So, apparently Sundown Audio has filed for bankruptcy (source). Hopefully this doesn’t make it difficult and/or expensive to get the SA-12 v.2 that I was planning on using for the sub frequencies in the SN95 Mobile DJ Booth. They aren’t liquidating, so operations/sales should continue as normal at least until I can buy one.
I chose this sub because one 12″ subwoofer is the largest that will fit in the trunk of a ’98 SN95 coupe. A 15″ would technically fit, but it would have to face up toward the sky. That is not ideal for outside listening; we want the sub to face straight out to the crowd. 2 10s in a ported box may fit, but they wont have the low bass extension that a 12 has. I also chose this sub for its quick rebound time. We want fast, accurate bass transients to accurately reproduce dark progressive psytrance basslines. Additionally, the SA-12 v.2 has a relatively high xmax: we want it to be loud.
This budget-ish subwoofer will be small enough to fit in the trunk, effective at playing darkprog and the occasional dubstep, and loud enough for 20 people.
